Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Board Certified
LuAnn Grochowski began her nursing career in 2003 as a telemetry step-down nurse before transitioning to critical care, and travel nursing, which introduced her to inpatient, outpatient, and community psychiatry. She spent several years at UNC-CH working on the adult, child, adolescent, and eating disorders units. She has worked as an adjunct clinical instructor for nursing students in their cardiac and psychiatric rotations. LuAnn has also worked at state psychiatric facilities in NY and NC. Her professional experience of the last 10 years has been sharpened and cultivated at the Durham VA Medical Center as lead clinician on the mental health intensive case management team, treating and serving veterans with mental health conditions in their communities.
LuAnn is passionate about treating mental health conditions from a recovery-based, holistic, non-stigmatizing, and person-centered approach. LuAnn believes that each person is a collection of their experiences and perceptions, and wants to partner with people to help them create and support the life they envision for themselves. She has special interests in thought disorders, mood disorders, substance use, geriatric mental health, PTSD, depression and anxiety.
LuAnn is board certified across the lifespan and obtained her advanced degrees in psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and clinical nurse leader education from The University of South Alabama, College of Nursing.
In her free time LuAnn enjoys reading, walking her beloved and devoted dog, Sophie, and spending time with her family.
