Integrated Medical Care with Ashley Hefner, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC

Focused telehealth support now, with expanded in-person care beginning in September

What does medical care at Cedar Oaks look like right now?

Ashley currently supports Cedar Oaks patients in a focused, collaborative role that helps bridge medical and mental healthcare. Right now, she is available for select telehealth medical needs, EKG reviews related to ADHD medication screening, and support with certain non-psychiatric refills such as HRT.

This phased approach allows our team to meet practical medical needs now while building toward broader in-person primary care access beginning in September.

Meet Ashley Hefner

Elizabeth “Ashley” Hefner, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, joins Cedar Oaks as a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Originally from Ohio, she attended undergraduate studies at Ohio Northern University and went on to earn her master's degree at Duke University. She has been an FNP for nearly 14 years.

Four years ago, Ashley decided to further bridge the gap between medical and mental healthcare by completing the Johns Hopkins University post-master's Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. She is passionate about patient education, wellness, and treating patients holistically—combining medical and mental healthcare to support the whole person.

Why this matters in a mental health clinic

Many patients have medical questions or concerns that intersect with psychiatric care. At Cedar Oaks, Ashley helps support those needs within the same collaborative environment, so care feels more connected and less overwhelming.

  • Support for medical questions that arise alongside psychiatric treatment
  • EKG review and screening support when medical clearance is needed for ADHD medications
  • Coordination with psychiatry and therapy teams when appropriate
  • A whole-person approach that recognizes how physical and mental health affect each other
  • Expanded in-person care coming as Ashley transitions into a broader provider role this September
